well encoding time is not a problem as it takes time to encode movies into dvd video.. now u r sayin writer is taking around half n hour to write the dvd, so either u r not writing on the maximum available speed of ur writer or u r using the dvds which only supports writing speed upto 2x or...

yeah go for liteon.. my experiences r also not good with samsung n lg..

u need to install the chipset drivers before u install ne other drivers.. n the blue screen usually appears when there is a problem with the graphics drivers.. n for the graphics drivers to work properly chipset drivers must be installed.... that's why u r facing these kind of problems..

if u don't find USB ENHANCED HOST CONTROLLER in the device manager then download the usb 2.0 drivers from this link then try n tell whether it worked or not.. *www.softwarepatch.com/windows/winxpusb.html

well try removing the dvd writer from the device manager then restart the sytem, n wait till the hardware is installed.. then check whether its working or not..

never came across that much difficult problem since past 2 years....
