I think, it is a feature in XP and 2000 rather then specific problem with our computers. may be a registry hack will do, just we have to find that

i install apc soft, i checked it without my ups also, system will not hibernates when i leave it on for whole night, but only when it resume from hibernate and i don't moved my mouse once

i think u r not getting my point, just try on ur pc, resume ur system from hibernation and left it idel for 10 or 15 minutes (don't touch mouse or keyboard at all) . i am dead sure it will hibernate automatically.

yup, i checked all options, NEVER is selected
