As for the water cooler, well, it was a long time dream (8 years actually, ever since I saw a water cooled voodoo machine in a computer gaming world mag..)
To be honest, I am more concerned about cooling performance than looks since I have a closed chassis. As for the motherboard, I'm thinking about an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO mainly because of good build quality.

If your intention is to build a dedicated gaming machine, then the i5 makes sense. If you will be running multiple instances of memory intensive applications (Photo editing, 3D modelling, Fluid Simulations etc..), then you would be better off with the i7.
