that means yr harddisk has some serious problems... it never makes a loud noise unless an untill something is scratching the magnetic plate... do not connect them as it will be really difficult to recove rthe data if the hdd is phyiscally damamged

EeshDewan.. have u tried wht "invisible" had told u to do so.. even i have a prescott 3.0GHz... even that used to heat up ... but proper vantilation (the blades of my cooler were covere with thick layer of dust) did solved the problem finally i changed the heatsink only for the noise problem...

hotdogXP... our processor are not in direct contact with the heatsink... due to some or other reason there is always some gap... the job of thermal compound is to fill this gap.. (every one know this).. now its simple thermal physics... Air is very bad conductor of heat.... so u have to fill...
