Did you try booting it with the cd/dvd with that utility? Coz it worked in similar cases.

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD. You can use above software to recover the data

Overall isnt looks and features=specs(all hardware) I think... Overall Dell is better I'd say.. lenovo is better than dell in terms of looks, keyboard and touchpad may be.. sammy got the best speakers and gfx of them all btw :P

Some softwares have issues with their older versions but new versions run fine.. like hwmonitor and fraps had some issues with older versions on windows 8. And old or new graphic card is not judged by its age(as long as it is in working condition) but other features.. and windows 8 will run fine...

O.P. clearly mentioned he wants a mid-range "gaming" laptop.. graphics card would be a primary concern for gaming right? And sammy is pretty good.. i play for like 3-4 hrs regularly temps max around 90 while remaining around 85 during most part of the session.

Is 90 really "over"heating.. it was way above this before last bios release.. and i'm talking about 90 with latest games like hitman absolution.. rest remain below 90

If temperatures upto/around 90 are tolerable go with samsung.. else with dell(for gaming)

ofcourse they can.. you can get the dvd drive replaced.. infact that is most likely to happen if you approach the service center.

I had a similar problem i couldn't copy entire dvd and it used to stop working/hang in between. I noticed it the first day and replaced it the next day(which also gave me a throttling-free laptop :P)

You may get it.. especially if you live in delhi, a guy got an i7 as a replacement of i5 in delhi coz i5 was out of stock.. so they are not bad in terms of ASS :P

Nvidia gt 650m is like wayyyyyy better than hd 7670m. And "heating problem" is based on what you think is hot, 90 are normal temperatures for me for any med-high gaming laptop so i wont say it gets hot enough to be problematic for me but again that's perception based and you might think otherwise.
