GPU Upgrade for i5 10400f; 40-55k

Training To Beat Goku
Hi
I have a i5 10400f + GTX 980 currently working on a Gigabyte P550B, I am thinking to upgrade to a 3060Ti and I have a few questions

1. Will my Gigabyte P550B be enough for my rig after the upgrade? What if I upgrade to a 3070Ti? If not could anyone suggest a new PSU.

2. I'm getting a MSI 3060Ti for 41-42k and a ASUS 3070Ti for 54k, are these prices good?

3. For 1440p gaming will 3060ti be enough? What about 4k?

4. How much can I sell my GTX 980 for? It's 5 years old, no bill no box, changed thermal paste twice .

Here are my specs -

i5 10400f
AsRock H410m HDV/M.2
16GB RAM
2x3.5"HDD
1x nVme 1 TB SSD
Gigabyte P550B PSU
GTX 980

I expect CPU bottleneck in few games at 1440p because of CPU as well as low freq RAM. I know my 3070 rig is a bit CPU bottlenecked as well at 1440p but I'm missing out barely 10% over a better CPU like 13th gen or 5800X3D. You should be mostly fine at 1440p, better situation at 4K because of even lesser CPU dependency. Maybe upgrade CPU, mobo & RAM after 2 years to latest mid range parts, maybe R5 8600 or i5 14400 + DDR5?

What monitor do you have or plan to buy?

3070Ti is a poor value, RX6800 XT goes for under 60k at times. 6800XT is a 4K card, if you want & is 57k now.
Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming OC 16GB GDDR6

IMO just get 6700XT & be done with it, it is a great value 1440p GPU: ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB GDDR6 192-bit Gaming Graphics Card

Its cons over 3060Ti is weaker RT performance & lack of DLSS, but it is cheaper & has more VRAM as advantages. On my 8GB 3070, I can't run FH5 at 1440p extreme for more than 20mins or so, but that is because of a VRAM leak bug in FH5 apparently, still games are going to need more VRAM for higher quality textures. 8GB is fine for 1080p. 10GB should have been the minimum for 1440p, but alas Nvidia didn't get the memo in last gen.

You need a new PSU, get 750W one for 6800XT & 650W for 6700XT.

You current PSU is a potential explosive, in case you don't know. Everything below Aorus PSUs are at risk.

I will upgrade my other components in the coming year. I will enquire about 6700XT and 6800XT and update here.

I currently have an Acer 165Hz 1080p Monitor, will upgrade to 1440p next year, haven't decided on any 1440 montior yet

Most likely local sellers will charge more, the websites I linked are reputed. 6700XT for 34-36k is kind of common, but 6800XT goes under 60k on & off, so might not get it whenever you want.

Right now Acer XV272U KV is the best value 1440p monitor IMO. Check its rtings.com review. It was as low as 20k during last sale with card offers, usually 25k. I'd rate Samsung G7 1440p 240Hz as a better choice for 35k, but it was sold for 35k only once. Else, have seen newer Samsung G7 4K 144Hz for as low as 40k. Panel wise old G7 is superior IMO but 4K is 4K.

You can just settle for 6700XT + XV272U KV right now for about 60k & jump into 1440p gaming. Good value. IMO 4K is better suited for TVs.

At 1440p, there will be no bottleneck. You have a good 6 core CPU that can easily handle an RX 6700 XT or RTX 3070. Depending on your budget, you could get a RX 6700 XT + Asus Tuf Bronze 650w for about 40k, and RX 6800 XT + MSI A750GF for under 65k.

Upgrading your CPU to any future 6 core CPU won't bring a significant difference with an RX 6700 XT or 3060 Ti. So decide based on your budget.

The PSU upgrade is a must, I'm suprised that you made it this far with your P550B.

Got a quote of 35k for a Sapphire RX6700XT. Price is okay I think? How is Sapphire's ASS and how are their cards? Never used a Sapphire card before.

Anyways I'll be going with 6700xt only, better performance than 3060t and cheaper too! 6800xt seems like an overkill for my needs so not getting that!

I also have to get a new PSU, was thinking for a Seasonic 620W, hear it's good, any thoughts? Also what's a good price for that?

Sapphire makes good cards, but their India after sales is not that good. Get the Asus one instead that I linked earlier. Sometimes even MSI & Gigabyte ones are for 34-36k as well.

Seasonic is not available in India officially from what I know. The XPG PSU I linked is a top tier PSU.

Honestly, don't cheap out on PSU.

XPG Core Reactor or MSI A-GF 80+ Gold series are good units, but XPG isn't the best in terms of after sales service here. Both are roughly the same price as well.

Hello, we are also planning to get a 4k TV so I was thinking to go for 6800xt, would that be a good choice?any other choices I could go with?

Also is there any way to stream games from my PC to my tv? Without a wired connection that is, I want to avoid putting my PC in the living room.
If that's not possible would it be practical to get a small case for my setup that would be properly cooled and which would not stand out in the living room? (something small, without RGB, proper airlflow)

6800XT is the best value 4K GPU under 60k

No way to wirelessly cast games properly. So forget it IMO. You need a wired connection. So there's that. Your TV has to be close to PC.

Not sure if big cards like 6800XT would fit a micro ATX case, check dimensions once. 3080FE is the smallest 4K GPU size wise from what I know.

Hello, I have decided to get RX6700XT+XPG 650W. 6800XT is an overkill and i don't plan on playing on my tv much. Also 6700xt can still run games on my tv. Will be buying everything this weekend or next! Thanks for the help!
it's costing me around 41k for the combo!

Hello, my shop cannot get their hands on a MSI or XPG PSU. They do have Corsair RM650x available, should I go with it?

Cost? Will be more expensive, but a PSU indeed.

Just buy online from prime, vedant or md.
I'm getting it for around 7k, MSI one is 100-200rs cheaper, which isn't that much of a difference. If the Corsair PSU is good, I'd prefer to get it today only! Please let me know, I'll go to the shop around 5pm!

If you're getting it for under 7k, its a good deal. Corsair RMx PSUs are among the best in the PSU market.

650w will limit upgrade options though, so keep that in mind. 750w PSUs cost a few hundred bucks more and are more worth it IMO.

I'm getting Corsair RM650x for 7k and Antec HCG Gold 750w for 8.2k

I will upgrade my CPU and Mobo later on in 2-3 years, which one should I go for?

HCG is an old PSU at this point, so I would suggest the RM650x.
I would still suggest ordering the MSI PSU from Vedant.

Brother they are unable to get their hands on MSI or XPG PSU, I've been waiting from a week.
That shop only assembled my PC and they give good prices so I'd prefer buying from there only.

If I only upgrade my CPU+mobo later on do i need a 750W PSU? I might also add a few hdds and ssds but that's all.
