Need mobo+cpu+ram (30k budget)

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Primarily 1080p gaming at 60 fps

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 30k. May extend slightly for future upgrades.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Yes if amd build but only slight overclock.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win7 now may opt for win 10 later.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: N/A

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: A 1080p lg freesync monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Only need cpu, mobo and ram (2x 8 gb). I already have a 750w psu, 2 x 1tb sata 7200 hdd, corsair spec 01 case, keyboard and mouse. Also 1100 va apc ups.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: 1-3 weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I'll build

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mostly online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: For amd build I was thinking of ryzen 1600 on a zen 2 board so future upgrade is possible. Was considering tomahawk max but keep hearing people having issues with msi mobos. For intel 9400f but I guess then future upgradability would be limited. Suggestions are always welcome.

Thank you all in advance.

You only want CPU, Board and RAM but you don't have GPU already or you forgot to mention it?

If you already have 1080 60p capable GPU, then you can go for
Ryzen 3600
Asrock B450 Pro 4
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB x 2

If you don't have a GPU already, then either you have to compromise 1080 60p gaming or increase your budget.

I do have a gtx 760 which I will upgrade to either a rx 5700 or rtx 2060S with this build. But that'll be within 2 months or less. I know the 5700 is cheaper and am planning to flash the 5700 xt bios later if necessary. For ram I was initially thinking about 3200 mhz gskill ripjaws V for ryzen build. Since I'd like not to upgrade in the next 5 years. But may upgrade if I'm going with r5 1600. Is corsair better than g.skill?

In that case, go with Ryzen 3600. RX 5700 or 2060S can do 1080 60p comfortably and can do better.
G Skill is good as well. Yeah, you can go for it.

Asrock b450 pro 4 is a good motherboard. I was thinking of asus b450 tuf gaming for good onboard sound. But that may shoot up the budget I guess which is why I was planning on going with R5 1600 now and later upgrade to 3600 3 years down the line.

I'm sorry if I tend to be resistant to your suggestions. I've been thinking about what components to pick for past 3 weeks but am slightly confused (overwhelmed??) with the options.

If you're talking about TUF Plus Gaming, you have better option from Asus - TUF M Pro and cheaper than TUF Plus Gaming. You can still get Ryzen 3600, even if budget overshoots it won't be much. And in 3 weeks, there would be offers all over.

R5 3600 (17k) + AsRock B450 Pro4* (7k) + 2x8GB DDR3200MHz (7k) = 31k

ADATA XPG GAMMIX D30 8GB (8GBX1) DDR4 3200MHZ RAM

Do upgrade to Win10 ASAP, not much point holding on to Win7 if you are a gamer. Windows might not be great, but its the only choice. Also buy a 120GB SSD for like 1.7k (Kingston A400), the difference in responsiveness is night & day.

For a bit above your budget, you get a great system. If you plan to play at 1080p, you can settle for a 1660Ti or 2060. Even with the upcoming jump in min requirements of games post 2020 (due to release of next-gen consoles), I'm sure 2060 will still be great for 1080p ultra 60fps gaming.

*B450 mobo needs latest BIOS flashed prior to running Ryzen 3rd gen.

The reason I am planning to go with rtx 2060s / rx 5700 is that I still wish to play at 1080p @ 60 fps avg with most settings at v.high even after 5 years (provided that ray tracing dont make the current gen obsolete)

1) Also, will an SSD improve gaming performance, i.e; higher fps? or only loading time?
I really don't like win 10 but I know I'll have to embrace it eventually.
2) Do online retailers update BIOS or shall we do it ourselves? (Dont have a working PC at the moment)

I doubt you will be able to use 2060s with very high settings after 3 years(by which time system ram will be ddr5 & graphics card ram even much more faster).

1.Get ssd unless you like looking at your screen for a minute(sometimes minutes while win 10 is "doing something in background"). Win 7 support is going to end on 14th Jan 2020 so no point installing it now not to mention newest hardware drivers have some issues with win 7.

2. You can ask online retailer to update the bios for you by confirming it with them over phone(preferred) & email(just to be safe) before placing the order.Links are already given above & if you are in mumbai/pune you can even directly go to primeabgb shop at lamington road for any mobo related issue.

Btw do check this amd mobo tier list: *i.redd.it/7n48gewun0p21.png

The reason I am going for an upgrade is because my current motherboard gave up; probably fried. I still do have my hdd (win 7). So I dont have to get a new win 7 OS. I did have compatibility issues with some older games & some softwares (freeoffice, printer driver) on win 10 (updated when it was free) which I switched back.

I will update to win 10 but as of now it's beyond my budget. Any suggestions to where I can get a copy relatively cheap.

You can go for 2060S or RX5700 but its a waste of power on 1080p 60Hz monitor in short-term, for 2 years or so, that was my intention while recommending RTX 2060.

SSDs don't improve fps at all. I run all my games from SSD these days. Just the loading times are faster, the impact varies game to game, some are noticeably much faster, others nt so much. In games like Destiny 2 with vast open areas, with HDD, in some areas the game will pause & load stuff. That has been completely eliminated by using a SSD. Many games already don't support anything lower than Win10, also DX12 mode results in better fps in some games, like I have observed it in ROTR. Some hardware have issues with Win10 as well.

Maybe they will. Call them & ask. If possible try computer shops in nearby cities. Ask them to sell you mobo with updated BIOS.

IF you still have your Win7 key, you can still upgrade for free officially. Tried it on a friend's laptop like 2-3 months ago. You can find cheap OEM keys on ebay.com for $5 which is digitally delivered to you. Private bank debit cards should work for payment. If you have old softwares, switch to new ones. Most old software has decent compatibility support, but you can find newer alternatives for most of them.

Get Windows 8.1 . Better than 10 in every way except directx 12 and AMD drivers. Should be more compatible than 10

No, Win10 is definitely better than Win8 & 8.1. Most reviewers agree that as well. Initially, reviewers & users weren't happy with Win10 as it wasn't as good or revolutionary like Win7 or XP for their time. Privacy concerns are there as well with Win10. Now, due to lack of options, Win10 is the way to go. Be it hardware or software support.

Asus Turbo RTX 2070 is selling on vedant computers for 31k. It's a blower style card so how do you guys rate it. Since its cheaper (for the time being) than a 2060 super and should perform similarly.

Also are founders edition cards better than partner models? There are rumors that FE are better binned.

I think Windows 10 VLK licenses can be had for Rs. 500 or so from eBay.

Those are not recommended.Basically you are paying money to someone who has no legal right to sell those keys & even if that key works it is not much better than using "ahem" method. One can just use win 10 pro in "forever trial" mode with just the restriction of not able to use personalization options like changing wallpapers etc.

Bought the Asrock b450 from prime abgb & ryzen 3600 and g.skill ripjaws V from itdepot. Total cost under 32k.

Also the Asus turbo 2070 rtx from Vedant (thanks to whitestar_99 for his suggestion. Saw it in another thread)

Tried to boot my win 7 installation of my old system. Didn't work so had to format my the hdd (os partition) and reinstall win 7 after a lot of headscratching since I couldn't get the usb drives working. Used an old ps/2 mouse for installation hoping the drives would work after installation. However no such luck.

Is there any workaround for that? Didn't know that win 7 is not supported on am4 boards.
