Welcome to Digit’s “e” DVD. Instead of limiting ourselves to physical media, we’re attempting to curate the best content from the WWW for you, and give it to you in monthly instalments. By the 15th of every month there will be a new e-DVD made available to buyers / subscribers of the Digit Magazine, so watch our homepage for updates.
While most of the following is content for your PCs, if you’re reading this from a mobile, scroll to the Mobile section to get some interesting downloads, apps and games, all recommended by Team Digit.

Featured Distro
- Ubuntu : Ubuntu is a Linux distribution based on Debian mostly composed of free and open-source software. As usual, this point release includes many updates, and updated installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need tobe downloaded after installation. These include security updates and corrections for other high-impact bugs, with a focus on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
Linux Distros
- Linux Mint: Linux Mint is straight up the most recommended and easy to use distros around at the moment. It is based on Ubuntu but ships with a bunch of extras including codecs and drivers, which makes it quicker to start using the distro.
- Gentoo: Gentoo is used by a bunch of enthusiasts known as Gentoomen. The updates are regular, and the distro is optimised for your particular system, which is great. It is a bit of a toughie to get into though.
- Slackware: Slackware is a distro for those who want to dive into the deep end of the Linux pool, and is one of the most basic and customisable distros around. The setup is incredibly fun or painful depending on how you look at it. It is easy to mess up your system if you are using Slackware, so proceed with caution.
- Kali Linux: Kali Linux is the distro for those who want to try out hacking tools, or get into penetration testing in a more serious manner.
- Ubuntu: Ubuntu is one of the easiest to use and well known distros around. Ideal for use in offices as well.
- OpenSuse: OpenSuse is a distro geared towards software developers and system admins. It is one of the most used distros around the world, and is continuously updated.
- Fedora: Fedora is the distro used by the creator of Linux, Linus Trovalds. This is a distro with plenty of support, and regular updates. It is associated with the RedHat distro.
- ArchLinux: The ArchLinux distro is a simple and minimalist Linux distro. The updates are frequent. The distro is for more expert users.
- Solus: Solus is a no nonsense distro designed for home computing. You can access most applications out of the box.
- SteamOS: Based on Debian, SteamOS is a distro specifically made for gaming on Linux systems. It can be used as a general purpose distro as well. Check the hardware requirements though, they are on the higher side.

- Xvast browser : A fast Chromium based browser focused on security.
- Ultra Viewer : UltraViewer helps you control your partner’s computer to support them as if you were sitting in front of their screen.
- VRadio : Listen to your favorite radio stations like never before!
- Syncthing : Syncthing is a continuous file synchronization program. It synchronizes files between two or more computers in real time, safely protected from prying eyes. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, whether it is shared with some third party, and how it’s transmitted over the internet.
- Tribler : Tribler is a research project of Delft University of Technology. Tribler was created over nine years ago as a new open source Peer-to-Peer file sharing program. During this time over one million users have installed it successfully and three generations of Ph.D. students tested their algorithms in the real world.
- Nativifier : Make native wrappers for web apps for any OS.
- Rclone : Rclone is a command line program to manage files on cloud storage. It is a feature rich alternative to cloud vendors’ web storage interfaces. Over 40 cloud storage products support rclone including S3 object stores, business & consumer file storage services, as well as standard transfer protocols.
- ProgTV : ProgTV – the simple but convenient and universal software for watching digital TV and listening to radio channels in Android, iOS and Windows.
- XWiki Standard : The Advanced Open Source Enterprise Wiki. Use this to make your own wikis.
- Wordpress : A desktop app that gives WordPress a permanent home in your taskbar.
- Tweetz Desktop : Tweetz is a Windows 10 desktop twitter client. Its minimal design mimics gadget style applications. Used to monitor current events.

- Ratropolis : Users are clan leaders for a small rat post, they will defend your rats from predators and monstrous creatures. User’s main goal is to build the largest ‘Ratropolis!’ Make your rats talk about it for a thousand years.
- Time Beast : A hapless detective faces off against a time-bending entity which flings him from his 1970s office to the worst place imaginable – the year 2020.
- Loot Keeper : Inventory management simulator gone roguelike!
- Tempo Quest : The game is a Roguelike mixed with Dance dance revolution mechanic, 1 – 4 players local coop, with gamepad support, French and English languages.
- Ducksoup Dungeon : Take control of one of the strange heroes in Ducksoup Dungeon and see if you can beat the dungeon. This is a small platformer-roguelike game made for the seven day roguelike challenge.
- Dungeon Solitaire : A deck-building, dungeon-making, rogue-like card game made for the 2019 GMTK jam!
- There is only power : There is Only Power is a strategy / roguelike. Build a small army, learn spells and find artifacts to enslave a kingdom before its citizens overthrow you. The world, your spell list, the artifacts and opportunities for recruitment are randomly set up each game to give you a unique challenge.
- Brogue : As in its predecessor Rogue, the goal of Brogue is for the player (represented by the character @) to descend to the 26th floor of the Dungeons of Doom, retrieve the Amulet of Yendor, and return to the surface.
- Dungeons of Cor : Explore a procedural dungeon, kill all monsters to proceed to the next level. Go as deep as you can!
- HyperRogue : You are a lone adventurer in a strange, non-Euclidean world. Gather as much treasure as you can before the nasty monsters get you. Explore several different worlds, each with its own unique treasures, enemies, and terrain obstacles. Your quest is to find the legendary treasure, the Orbs of Yendor. Collect one of them to win! Or just ignore your quest and collect smaller treasures.
- Dungeon Chop Chop : Dungeon Chop Chop is a Co-Op Rogue-like
- Reikon Dungeon : Reikon Dungeon is a real-time roguelike dungeon crawling game where the player gets to explore infinite dungeons and hunt down deadly monsters.
- Streets of Rogue : Streets of Rogue is a rogue-lite about player choice, freedom, and anarchic fun. The game takes inspiration from fast-paced top-down rogue-lites like Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne, and adds free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent gameplay elements of RPGs like Deus Ex.
- Ascend : A reverse roguelike with the insurmountable flaw where the hero continuously gets weaker as the game progresses.
- Deepdive : Deepdive is a short procedurally generated diving roguelike about exploring the depths. Manage your oxygen, scan new species of fish, mine minerals, explore the depths, but be careful not to spring too many leaks in your helmet. Then, come back to your boat to upgrade your gear so you can go deeper next time.
- Dungreed : Dungreed is 2D side-scrolling action game with a Rogue-LITE element.
- Broken Signal : Jetpack & Overclock your way to the top of the radio tower and break the signal!
- Photon Highway : Photon Highway is an arcade racer in which you drive on a procedurally generated road while trying to reach the end of the universe.
- Hostile Takeover : Take control of a small team of contractors, hired by mysterious suits for impossible jobs against powerful corporations. Your contractors each have custom cybernetics that allow them to use a host of abilities, represented by cards. These cards are used in turn-based combat for actions such as movement, attacking, defending, and special abilities. Along with combat, you’ll also encounter events, character upgrades, and black market shops as you explore each corporation. Add and remove cards from your decks to customize each character to your liking!
Evergreen Games
- Warframe : Warframe is the free to play model done right, with regular updates, a monetisation model that is fair to players. This is an incredibly complex game with a lot of things to do, and is a major time sink. Essentially you play as space ninjas who are on various missions through the solar system. This is science fiction like you have never seen it before, in any medium.
- Path of Exile : This is another game that has been around for years, is free to play, and is constantly updated. The game has one of the most expansive skill trees in any game ever. You have to pick classes and clear dunjons. The hardcore mode has permadeath. This is RPG done right.
- Shotgun Fun Fun : This is a fast paced platformer where you have to navigate around a map and take down as many zombies as possible, before you inevitably meet your death. Crazy, and addivtive.
- Trackmania Nations Forever : The free version of the game has a stadium environment with thousands of user made tracks. Insane speeds, lots of room for stunts, and split second reactions are all necessary for you to win. This is one of the most popular racing games ever.
- Altitude : Altitude is an over the top multiplayer game where you have to take a bunch of planes and eliminate enemies. The rounds are frenetic and short. The best thing is the football mode.
- TeeWorlds : This is a crazy 2D multiplayer platformer. In the solo mode, you have to kill anything else that moves with an arsenal of weapons, or team up and play the deathmatch mode. Moving around requires constant use of a grappling hook, which is the entire charm of this game.
Monster movies
- Destroy All Monsters : THIS was suppose to be THE LAST Godzilla movie – the 9th installment in the 1st Godzilla series. An alien species, known as Kilaaks, invades the Earth by taking control of all of the Earth’s monsters and using the monstrosities to destroy all the major cities throughout the world. Can mankind find a way to free the monsters from the Kilaaks’ control of them and find a way to eliminate this invading species from outer space?
- All Monsters Attack : The tenth film in the Godzilla franchise, the movie was released in 1969. This is the Japanese cut with english subtitles.
- Godzilla vs Hedorah : The 11th installment in the 1st Godzilla series. This entertaining feature film deals with the Big G contending against a monster derived from pollution… HEDORAH!!! Can the defender of Earth defeat this creature born of sludge? Is ALL LIFE on Earth doomed?
