i got this from techtree
Graphics processor maker Nvidia opened its India office in Bangalore. The main function of the office will be to educate the local market about gaming, which its spokesman claimed was in an early stage of development.

"India is a fast growing market and a place with multi-talented engineers, who work all around the world. The engineers that work for us come from India. The main function of our office will be to educate the market about gaming as well as about specific products. Banglore is the technology hub of India and hence we have opened our first office here with a design center," said Luciano Alibrandi, director of product PR, Europe, Middle East and Asia, Nvidia.

Nvidia will follow a strategy of establishing its presence and then train quality people who will move to new locations and start up new offices. "When the demand increases we will hire more people. Till then lets wait and see. But considering that India has over a billion people and the gaming industry is picking up it's a very good forecast that we will expand," said Alibrandi.

Responding to a query about Nvidia opening its office here following a similar step by rival ATI last year, Alibrandi said, "Everything we do is not because someone else is doing it. We have seen a good rise in business in India. That's the reason why we have already hired a marketing person to take care of the growing business."

Alibrandi clarified that though it will train several CES engineers, support for products bought by consumers will be provided by its partners. "Our engineers will work with different game developers, testing their games so that they work with Nvidia hardware. Around 90 engineers test every game and fix game codes, such as when the frame rates slow down they fix the code to boost the frame rate. This translates to a major benefit for end users," he said.

Alibrandi also said that the sales of Nvidia products had risen ten times in the past six months alone. "The GeForce 6 series with Turbo Cache is the latest technology while the older 5200 still sells in India as the price is low. We will move towards giving users better cards with a low price as the gaming community grows over here over the next few years," he said.

Nvidia is expected to launch new members of the GeForce 6 series and continue pushing the SLI solution.
