In your case I think ur mobo has a max limit of 512MB. Older mobos had limits like this. Check ur mobo specs.

Most prob it will be bcos of bad media. Try another DVD/another brand DVD. If u r getting this error with many brand DVDs, ur writer wud have gone bad.

Get some cheap local brand TV tuner card for around 1000 rupees or so. Encoding can be done using software. This is the cheapest option I can think of.

How come u got 6 channels?...u r supposed to get only one...usually it will be in channel 4. RF modulator converts the o/p of the channel u r currently watching on ur STB to one particular TV channel. Try tuning again..make sure connections are correct. BTW this RF modulating thing will...

Yes, u need to get better batteries. Get some NiMH batteries with atleast 2000-2500 mAH capacity and a charger. Wont cost u much. Each battery would cost around 80 rupees or so. U can get it from camera shops or electronics shops

Sounds like a power supply problem. Check if the 4 pin/8pin additional power connector is plugged in properly to the mobo (this is in addition to the 24 pin ATX power connector). If this is not connected properly, system wont get enough power and will behave erratically. U cud also try removing...

Yeah..if it's in warranty period, take it back to the shop. Else try cleaning the lens (carefully..dont use force) with some spirit and a soft tipped cloth or cotton swab (now that u've opened the drive). If this also doesnt work, just throw away the drive and get a new one. It's quite cheap...

1GB DRR RAM will cost u 2300 which is a dead investment. I wud say get another 256MB DDR for Rs 650 to get ur system RAM to 512MB (u shud be able to run XP comfortably with that). If u r ready to spend 2300 for RAM + 500 for SATA adapter, then it's better to upgrade the whole thing.

Hey..it seems u can get a SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA converter for Rs 299. Saw it on ebay.in. If u can get it at ur place, then u can add ur HDD and DVD writer now itself.
