yahoo messenger error.........

i had installed the latest yahoo messenger, but when i click on the icon messenger doesnt start but shows the error "Yahoo! Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." so i again installed lower version. but again i get same error..
what should i do? can any one tell me.... i m using window xp proffesional.

Try formatting your PC.

Dont use Yahoo Messenger. Try alternative clients as Trillian

try usin a registry cleaner
and then reinstall, looks like an invalid registry entry causin the trouble
