Starter edition is a SEVERLY limited version of windows. If you want to choose from the two versions, get the Home edition.
    > In the starter edition you cant run more than 2 programs.
    > The maximum screen resolution is limited to 1024×768, and there is no support for workgroup networking or domains.
    > hardware support is limited to lowend processors
    >Many administrative applets are missing
    In short its C###ware.
    [sorry couldnt resist.]

ps: why dont you try ubuntu?]
