Windows XP Update Problem !!

Hi everyone..
My system is Xp Version 2002 , Service pack 2..
Today after almost 7 months, i gave the option of " automatically installing windows updates"..
hence IE 7 got installed..
Later , i got a message sayi " XP Service Pack 3 " is to installed..
i clicked on Yes..and then came the message that " windows recommend BAcking up ur system before installation".

As i havent backed up my SyStem Yet , I cancElled the XP Service pACK 3 OPTION.*static.techguy.org/smilies/frown.gif

So is it necessary that I install the Service Pack 3 edition...Do i really need to BAck up my system as MIcrosoft tells ??!! *static.techguy.org/smilies/redface.gif

Its not necessary...but your system must be updated. SP3 contains many fixes and enhancements patches, as well as some new features.

I suggest you to install SP3

Making backup can be helpful in case something goes wrong. However there is nothing to worry about. Mine SP3 was installed without any problem, and I didn't make any backup.

You can make backup of important files saved in windows partition.
