Windows XP SP2 Freeze

I have encountered this wierd problem. When I turn on my PC, sometimes it boots fine and sometimes it just freezes and I have to manually restart the PC. The problem also occurs with some applications like Tomb Raider: Anniversary Demo and Windows Movie Maker. While playing Tomb raider anniversary the PC suddenly hangs. I have scanned for probable viruses, but has not solved my problem. Is it a hardware problem. Helpppp!!

it can be a RAm problem or even a power supply problem...

see if your ram is gone kaput.

or disabling all other services that you really don't need to run.

Also check for CPU and Disk temperatures. Too hot PCs freeze themselves, it happened once in my case.
