windows xp error cant use control panel

i have got windows xp pro with sp2. whenever i try to open control panel, windows explorer causes and invalid fault and closes down. it automatically restarts windows explorer. i dont know what the problem is. please help

Please post your system configuration, and what antivirus/firewall you are using and whether you checked for viruses. Also please download HijackThis from here:

and run it, save the log file and post its contents here so we can take a detailed look and let you know what's going wrong.
