windows xp activation

dear friends,

kindly guide me as to how to activate windows xp professional. do i have to pay for it or not?Also let me know is it necessary to activate before installing win xp sp2 because as i understands if an activation is required a message appears reminding you of activation. well i am facing difficulty in installing win xp sp2. further i had downloaded win xp sp1 using win uodate with out any activation issue. i do not know the downloaded sp1 is properly installed and working. how to know it?

windows xp activation does not take any charge.


it is just a procedure to make sure you have one legitimate copy of win xp.

you have to call microsoft helpline in delhi and give your product code they will give you the activation code enter that and you are on your way. will hardly take 5 mins

but if you have pirated win xp then no one can help you.

To run the activation wizard :
Start > Run > C:\winows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a (press enter) ....
It will tell you a toll free number

if ur sp1 is properly installed it should show up in ur add remove programs
ofcourse thats if u archived the files during install

The number is for Microsoft New Delhi where u can activate it...

Chose to activate by phone and give the installation ID to this number it will give u an activation code...

The online activation via the activation server (that Bangalore number it tries to dial ) is no longer available for Indian customers....
