I found an Application called Windows Security Centre on another system...It has an XP OS..Try as I might I cant find it on my system...Why? How many of ur systems have it? If u do have... Do u use it?

i use zone alarm

windows security is uselss and has many security holes
thats why there are many security updtaes for windows which u can get

no harm in using the winxp sp2 firewall, which is one of its 3 components.
the automatic upadates may be disabled. but do take them manually.
the 3rd just checks if you have an anti-virus monitoring going on.

use a good anti-virus (avast or bitdefender or avg) a good anti-spyware (adaware or ms anti-spy or spysweeper) and a good firewall (zonealarm).

windows security centre is kind of like a myth
it must not be mistaken for a fully functional security suite
its there by default if u have SP2 installed on ur xp machine

as mentioned it has an inbuilt firewall which leaves much to be desired if not used by someone who knows waht hes doing ( basically a no no for a newbie )
it has automatic updates and AV monitoring ...
its basically just a hog .. and i personally disabled it comepltely
using ZAPro firewall and no AV as of now ...
perfectly safe

Hmmmm....I'm using the ZA Security Suite 5.5 now...its quite good...though i kinda feel its not-so-user-friendly; in the sense that the interface cud hav been better. But as long as it does its work, i dont mind. I personally feel that the inbuilt AV is not good enuf, and it is still unable to cleanup this particular problem of IE access and Egroup Dialers from my system. Both the spyware have comletely disabled the MS Antispyware on my system . Ad Aware is of no use too...I tried deleting them manually...but nothing works..The Firewall in ZA is excellent though. So overall i wud giv it a 7/10... My only regret is that I uninstalled AVG 7.0...Maybe I was a little hasty...
