windows installer error

whenever i try to install software i get the following error message

the installation package could not be opened
verify that the package exist and that you can open it or
contact the application vendor to verify that it is a valid windows installer package

i reinstalled the windows installer but the problem persists


is there any genius who can help me with this windows bug

Do you get this message for any s/w u install or for a particular s/w...

May be the porblem is with the application u r tring to install.. the application might be corupted during downloading,writing or some dosk errors try re-downloading the application and then try install it...

If it is occurring frequently,use spybot to search your computer.It may be because of a malware which corrupts the downloads.

I was having this problem right now. I disabled the antivirus and spysweeper and installed latest autopatcher. The problem was gone! U may try to do the same!

I also enabled the "windows installer service" (in services.msc) which was set to manual!

But he said already that he had re-installed the installer but still the prob exists......

he could have reinstalled the same one he had !? i hav sgstd he UPDATE / latest version etc
