Winamp and CPU usage

I've a 667MHz Cyrix 3 PC with 40GB HD, 256MB SD RAM using WINXP. When running Winamp 2.9, CPU usage is always 100%. What do I do?

Yes, Winamp is not so good in CPU utilisation ... use Windows Media Player 6.4 (not later) or Windows Media Player Classic on windows, or XMMS on linux.

first time in my life ive heard someone say that Windows Media Player has better cpu utilisation than winamp!!
winamp is MUCH less resource hungry than windows media player!!
there is some other issue that is making your cpu utilisation so high.
press ctrl+alt+del and see what all processes are running and close the ones not needed.

I am talking about windows media player 6.4 ... I use it, and I can assure you that it is lighter on the system than winamp 2.9

I am NOT talking about later Windows Media Players

WMP 6.4 can still be accessed after upgrading to a later version by typing "mplayer2" in the Run box.

Winamp is a really good media player...Maybe you should use the winamp lite available at the website....it might help. Again, you might be infested with spyware (use firefox)..

There is something wrong winamp is a very light media player even more true for the ver you are using check all running process again and also see the king of disk / media location

This should be a spyware...
Use any AntiSpyware like Spybot or AdAware and see what happens...

WinAmp is not that hungry.So check out whether any other process is running in background.
Check the processes running by using this software called powerProcess
or AIDA.

Also scan ur computer using NoAdware or AdAware.
