which is the best all format video splitter & joiner???

hi, i wanna know which is the all format supported,best video editor at present...
because i wanna cut and join avi ,xvid & divx video files for my college day. pls tell me which one is simple to use and best one which supports all video formats. that would be better if it supports all formats.vcd cutter & video redo are all mpeg editors. pls i dont need them, because they wont support avi files. so keep that in mind and answer my question guys pls..... i am waiting for ur reply.....

if u have got bucks and want to create 'Jurrasic park' go for Adobe Premiere..
if u have no bucks(like ME!!), and are hunting for freewares: the best is Virtual Dub..this is the best in editing avi files and is very very simple to use....i think it will be enough for ur college videos, unless u mite start thinking of 'Jurrasic park'
