I bought a sempron 2400+ processor, My motherboard is ASUS V400 MX.

OS is Win XP

256 MB DDR , 400MHz

It shows 1000 MHz clock speed in system properties, but it is specified to operate at 1667 MHz on its cover.

The jumper settings in motherboard is default(100 MHz)

What is the maximum speed that I will be able to set in DSW.

it has 100/133/166/200

Will i be able to set it at 200 MHz , thus the clock speed 2 GHz without overclocking?

What is meant by FSB.
My mother board support up to 400 . Where can I set the FSB

Well if you set it to 200MHz then that is overclocking ;) Set it to 166 and you should be fine. And as to how far you can push it that is upto you and how far ur willing to push it. Remem if you OC ur warranty becomes void.

What is meant by FSB.
The FSB (front side bus) is the connection between the processor and the Northbridge (which contains the memory controller) in your motherboard. In your Sempron 2400+, the FSB is 166x2 = 333. Like icecoolz rightly pointed out, going beyond that is overclocking.

To get most of your motherboard's capabilities (400 FSB), you need to get a Socket A AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (OPN AXDA3200DKV4E). This processor has an FSB of 400 Mhz. Use that and then with 400 Mhz RAM you are in for some serious speed play.

Having said that, it is very difficult to get this processor
:( , so you are going to have to be content working at 333 Mhz.
