Hi. I have a VIA Motherboard with the following specifications:
The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 is the first integrated core logic solution for the Intel Pentium 4 processor platform. Harnessing the industry-leading performance of DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM, the flexibility of VIA Modular Architecture Platform (V-MAP) design, and the rich graphics performance of the enhanced S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ 2D/3D engine, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 reduces system cost while delivering unprecedented performance and stability.
The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 with a 400MHz Front Side Bus, the high performance DDR 200/266 memory controller from the VIA Apollo P4X266, and the superb performance of the enhanced S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ core yields an unbeatable mix of power, flexibility and value. Supporting enhanced 128-bit 3D and 2D engines, effective AGP 8X equivalent internal bandwidth throughput through 128-bit data paths, 32MB of Frame Buffer capability and digital video DXVA Motion Compensation for smooth digital video playback, the integrated S3 Graphics ProSavage8&trade' core provides class leading 2D,3D, video quality and performance. Flexibility is enhanced by an optional external AGP slot to enable future upgrades if required.
Supporting up to 4.0GB of DDR memory, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 leverages the power of the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor to full effect, enabling outstanding multitasking capabilities. The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 allows corporate and consumer customers to fully exploit Microsoft Windows® XP and Office XP applications, and provides significant headroom for the next generation of software applications and Internet technologies. On industry standard benchmarks such as 3D Winmark, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 enables performance gains of up to 100% when compared with integrated systems based on the Intel Pentium® III processor, the previous standard for mainstream desktop computing.
The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 also boasts the latest South Bridge technology with first to market innovations like integrated 3Com® networking in the VT8233C and the introduction of Ultra ATA-133 in the VT8233A. Ultra ATA-133, offering 33% more bandwidth between hard drive and CPU, enables the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 to deliver more performance in data intensive applications like business productivity software than rival mainstream desktop platforms. In addition to these performance features the P4M266 features integrated AC'97 audio, MC'97 modem support, 6 USB ports, and Advanced Power Management.
The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 also has an external AGP port for graphics upgrades and supports PC133 SDRAM to provide the scalability that OEMs and System Integrators need to build systems spanning a complete spectrum of price points using a single platform.

Unparalleled Memory and Graphics Performance
The high performance DDR subsystem of the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266, offering up to 2.1GB/sec, or AGP 8X equivalent memory bandwidth, greatly increases the performance of the enhanced S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ core.
VIA Modular Architecture Platform (V-MAP)
The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 provides OEMs and SIs with unparalleled flexibility and scalability for existing and future PC designs. As a modular solution, both the North Bridge and South Bridge of the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 are completely pin compatible with current products, such as the VT8233C South Bridge with integrated 3Com Ethernet, and the VIA Apollo P4X266 North Bridge. V-MAP maximizes flexibility when designing a platform around the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 chipset. This enables OEMs and SIs to save costs and speed up time to market by offering systems covering a full spectrum of system price points based on a single motherboard platform.

yeah go for 6200 thats what you can get the most if you dont go for ATi X550 or X800 will fit near 3.5 k

@shantanu_webmaster
no way in this world one can get an X800 based card for 3.5k.
Even an X600 would costs bout 4k and an X800 based card is somewhat equvalent or better than a 6600GT based card which is around 7.5k for AGP.

Check out the digit issue of October 2006. Graphics cards are reviewed in it. Its also available in the archives CD of this month's issue.:)

Naa....go for 6600LE its just 300-400 bucks more than 6200 and has 128bit mem interface......further if you get a 6600 it has 8pixel pipelines...

@samrulez
now most gcard manufacturers has stopped producing 6600 series AGP cards nd its impossible ti get fresh stock. There are only a few AGP cards are out like 6200, 7300GS, 6800GS nd 7600GS nd up. Its better if he gets the 7300GS but it won't fit in 3k budget. Itll costs him at least 4k for an AGP one.

You can buy the 6600 for Rs. 500 more.
It has significantly better performance than 7300GS.
