win32codecs will be good enough. For player using gstreamer, it requires gstreamer-plugins-ugly AFAIK.

@DukeNukem, Install XMMS for playing MP3. It's very similar to WinAmp (in Windows).
Also it's audio reproduction is very good.

Hi duke! For fedora I just like to play with the wild cards! They r sooo coool!

Fire up the terminal
1. Uninstall xmms => "rpm -e xmms"
2. Install mp3 enabled xmms specifically => "yum -y install xmms-mp3 "
3. Install themes and all in the next step => "yum -y install *xmms* "
4. Install plugins and all => "yum -y install gstreamer* mp3* w32codec lame*"

Everything will get installed, even if ur not sure about the package name!!!! ANd ur system will be ready to rock n roll!

in Debian and Ubuntu you can set in GNOME preferences to enable "sound" and enable esd(enlight. sound daemon) and in xmms preferences set the sound server as esd(some ppl says esd is buggy,but i don't have such experience!).
then install all gstreamer plugins for mp3 support gstreamer-mad will be sufficient.
