Visual Basic 6 installation problem

Recently when i tried reinstalling visual basic 6(original cd) on my home comp, it started giving problems during installation. After finishing the copying of files during system update it states that msdasql.dll has failed to register itself and the setup terminates.Moreover the visual basic application crashes even when i try to compile a simple form containing a label or a textbox.However programs which have been previously compiled run fine.

This didn't used to happen in windows 98 in my older comp. After upgrading my system to P-4 i made my HDD ntfs so i cant use win98 now.
I have win XP SP2 installed .
