HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My PC is infected with a deadly virus
Some of the symptoms are:

It disabled the registry
i.e. when i type regedit in RUN menu the PC gets restarted
+ any changes to the registry results in a restart

It disabled my FOLDER OPTIONS
So I can't view the hidden files

Each and every folder in my hard drive contains a 42 kb shortcut of type application i.e. EXE file which redirects me to the my documents folder.
The name of that exe file is same as the folder's name in which it resides.

When i type Application data in the RUN menu then also the PC restarts.

The overall performance of my pc is also decremented.

I've tried the latest anti viruses , but after infection nothing works......
Please Suggest me what to do.(any anti virus,updates,etc)

Use AVG Antivirus Free Edition for virus scanning.

looks like its a win32.blackmal virus..also known as w32.nyxem

After removing the virus go to gpedit.msc and browse to user config>admin templates>system now disable the "prevent registry access". This will enable registry editing.
Now, open regedit and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer and modify NoFolderOptions to 0

Use avast antivirus to remove it. It is good.

Use Kaspersky! its got the best Disinfection percentage!

Or u can use panda antivirus online scan too, u got to hv activeX enabled.

use Kaspersky 6.0 Pro. it has a strong defence. untill and unless you create a role or adding in the trusted jone, you can't change any thing in your system specialy registry related. use advanced configuration when installing.

hey i had these kinds of symptoms in my system some 1 month ago..
it was the w32/rontokbro virus..
i removed that virus by mcafee antivirus 7 updated till march 2006......

norton 2006 makes the system terribly slow.
If u still want to go for Norton install an older version and update it.
