Researchers at Tel Aviv University have published a plan to rid the internet of viruses using a network of automated virus clean-up systems. The plan centres on a network of so-called 'honey-pot' computers, which are designed to look like unpatched PCs. These PCs attract viruses and automatically work out a viral signature file and start to distribute the cure immediately. All the other honey-pots in the network are updated automatically and start to put out countermeasures simultaneously.

The paper is published in the latest edition of Natura Physics at *www.nature.com/physics/index.html

an interesting concept ! if it were to become a reality, could throw the present av cos out of bizness :)

Great concept.
Actually , the concept of honey-pots isnt new in the internet.
Companies routinely use honey-pots to determine where the mischief mongers are trying to attack them from .

Regarding , the AV companies being wiped out , looks like it wont gonna happen . Why ?
Dont ever underestimate the power of human stupidity ;) . No matter how many methods exist to keep the internet virus-free , ppl always find innovative ways to get themselves infected.

Lets see what fellow forum users say .
