Can anyone help me in choosing best Video editing software. I want the following features in it:

1. Video splitting and joining of various formats including *.mov
2. Overlay sound on a video. Eg. Overlay mp3 song on corresponding video song
3. Level volume of video tracks
4. It would be great if it supports video conversion to other formats too.

First 3 points are a 'must' for me. Please let me know...

U can use
WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER (its the easiest to use)
Better if u have SP2 installed since it adds new features.
+ try out for addons for movie maker
All of ur tasks can b performed
And if filetypes like .DAT ,.... are not supported then u can use converter softwares .
Other such tools for VDO editing are VIRTUAL DUB, SONY VEGAS,........

The best software i can suggest is Ulead Video Studio.
this software support all formats including .mov. all kinda stuff is possible with this software.. u can add movie titles, crop, join, replace sound, etc..
just try the software.. i think it is available for trial.

Thanks for the response guys. I was thinking to opt for Ulead Video Studio. Your suggestions made me to go for it.
