Is use of tools and extensions such as AdBlock for Firefox and OperaAdFilter unethical? I was recently banned from a very popular forum just because I used a filter to block the ads that used to pop up on the forum. I know that these ads are the only way that these forums can run, and without them, the internet wouldn't really exist, but isn't this upto me to decide whether I want to see a these ads or not? Some of these ads are really irritating. They keep popping up when you're doing your work.

I want your opinion. What do you guys think?

Well the most effective advertisements are when they are in the interest of the visitor to the particular site. If they start popping up here and there..and unnecessarily get in the way..then they are just plain annoyances. So there's a tradeoff...no one wants to see an ad...but a well crafted ad is the winner when people are actually interested in it, and not annoyed by it.

I agree adware can be very annoying. specially when you are doing some important work. Also the contents of the adware is also irrelevant to the person who is visiting that site(ads containing links to adult, semi porn websites, some even contain partially clad photos:x).

If the web user really is intrested in a particular service or product he can always google!

So my question is that - is blocking ads and using the service which is run by ads right or not? Do I have a right to choose?

You have right to use adremoval tool, and website also have the right to ban you.

Yes, they do have a right to ban you. At the time of signing up for any service, even email, you are presented with the ToS (terms of service). Few people even bother to read (including myself); they just click I agree. These finer points are usually contained in the ToS
