Hi Digit-ers...

You Gurus gotta help me out. My cousin accidently deleted a folder from my hard disk... I managed to recover 98% of the data with Get Data Back v2.31... But I was horrified to see the partition full of 'deleted' files... Files of stuff of sensitive nature (not porn, don't get any ideas... he he) all over the partition... After recovering the data I had accidently lost, I tried to delete all those old 'non-existent' files, but to no avail... Recommend a good software to trace them all and permanently clear all that junk... It's eatin' up a good 7 GB of disk space!

I tried a software Sure Delete to get rid of the junk... but it did nothing...

Recommend a good software to cleanse my pc... I know that simply formatting the partition won't delete those files...

its not eating up any space
its just files that CAN be recovered if u want using these software
as long as u dun run they are pretty much free space
since their entry is removed from the partition table , the space the once occupied is free to be overwritten but other files

those files are not consuming any space on ur HDD ... bcz to ur operating system currently those locations are FREE .. so it'll always treat that space as free space & will overwrite write the information so dunt be much bothered about those files ... recover whichever U want to & leave the rest as they are ...

what you need is file shredder software which will write 0s in the place of existing files thus deleting the old data.

You can try file shredders such as Tune Up Utilities File Shredder or System Mechanic Incinerate to permanently get rid of these files so that these cannot be recovered.
