My brother has the following config-
1.Mobo-P5N32-E SLI(High End Ethusiast)
2.GFX-XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB
3.Processor-C2D e6600
4.Audio-Supreme Fx HD audio
5.Hdd-250 gb seagate sata
6.Optical drive/writer-Sony AW-G170S SATA dvd WRITER
7.Atx cabinet with three fans
8.PSU-Corsair HX 620w(not yet received)
9.2*1GB ddr2 ram for dual channel(667mhz pc 5300)
I have connected the following components
1.GFX into the pci-express X16 slot(blue)
the slot closest to the center of the board,ie,the 1st slot
its fully seated into the slot but i have not connected the 6 pin pci express power connector to it as i don't have the psu
I want to know whether the mobo will boot with an atx power supply(20/24 pin) without the video card connected to the mobo or with the gfx connected to the mobo but not to the power supply.
2.The processor-I first carefully read the motherboard manual(also the processor manual) and then installed the processor doing every thing the way it was said.
3.Processor heat sink fan-It is the fan-heatsink that came bundled with the processor
I took out the Fan/heatsink there was some thermal paste on the bottom of the heatsink So i want to know whether the heatsink is supposed to touch the processor via the thermal paste interface i have installed it and connected the fan to the connector on motherboard
4.I installed the audio card in the audio card slot as described in the motherboard manual.
5.I connected the hdd to a sata power cable and to sata port 1 on the mobo and the dvd to the sata port 3 on the mobo
6.I connected the hdd led, power button, reset button & speaker of the atx cabinet to the mobo via the q-connector kit
7.I have connected the two 1GB ddr2 ram modules for dual channel configuration
I know the things to do when the power supply arrives-
A.Connect any sata power cable to the psu
B.connect the 6 pin pci-ex connector to the video card
C.connect the 24 pin connector to the motherboard
D.connect the 8 pin/4 pin ATX 12v connector to the motherboard's EATX 12v connector
Questions-Is there anything else I should do??
Also will the motherboard boot without the hdd or dvd writer connected??
There are two pci-ex x16 slots for the gfx(one close to the center and another one nearer to the bottom)which one should i connect to when running with a single card??
Also again i ask will the motherboard boot without the gfx connected to it as it does not have an onboard gfx??
Also will the mobo refuse to boot with inadequate power supply as its mentioned in the manual??
There is power fan connector on the mother board do i need to connect some thing from the power supply to it??

Please help.

Waiting for experts.

first.. good config..
I want to know whether the mobo will boot with an atx power supply(20/24 pin) without the video card connected to the mobo or with the gfx connected to the mobo but not to the power supply.
look the first thing is that you should get the power supply for the card.. coz it would not boot or if boots in say 1% situation wont last long..
2.The processor-I first carefully read the motherboard manual(also the processor manual) and then installed the processor doing every thing the way it was said.

yes the thermal interface should touch the proccy otherwise it mat go boom..
4.I installed the audio card in the audio card slot as described in the motherboard manual.
cool
5.I connected the hdd to a sata power cable and to sata port 1 on the mobo and the dvd to the sata port 3 on the mobo
cool
6.I connected the hdd led, power button, reset button & speaker of the atx cabinet to the mobo via the q-connector kit
ok
7.I have connected the two 1GB ddr2 ram modules for dual channel configuration
cool

attach all devices and boot your PC :D
Also will the motherboard boot without the hdd or dvd writer connected??
YES : it is said as Display check
There are two pci-ex x16 slots for the gfx(one close to the center and another one nearer to the bottom)which one should i connect to when running with a single card??
see the manual and motherboard , it is marked as PCi-e 1 and 2 so use the 1st one..
Also again i ask will the motherboard boot without the gfx connected to it as it does not have an onboard gfx??
NO
Also will the mobo refuse to boot with inadequate power supply as its mentioned in the manual??
yes in many cases, or in some it will restart frequently
There is power fan connector on the mother board do i need to connect some thing from the power supply to it??
NO .. no need.//

^^At last someone has the answers thanks a lot also there is a connector on the audio card marked as some thing like cd_in what do i have to connect it to/is it necessary.
And also there is an ADH(Azilia Digital header) connector on the board about which there is no mention in the manual i found about it on the net ya other guys were also asking about it.So i assume i do not need to connect any thing to it.
I am getting an Antec trio 650 (650 watt) psu as it is recommeneded by both nvidia and tested by XFX.

my pleasure dude....
also there is a connector on the audio card marked as some thing like cd_in what do i have to connect it to/is it necessary.
well it is not necessary to connect that cd_in , it is used as the same port which is used on board.. with the CD/DVD ROM audio digital cable..
so no need to connect it.. if you want then you can connect it with cd/dvd rom/rw which ever you have..
And also there is an ADH(Azilia Digital header) connector on the board about which there is no mention in the manual i found about it on the net ya other guys were also asking about it.So i assume i do not need to connect any thing to it.

yeah there is no need.. that port is for AZALIA HD audio (onboard) and you are using a CARD.. so no need.. :D
