I think i5 is a better choice for Photoshop, Maya & those kinda applications but not sure if X6 will be better than the former. Lets hear from some other masters.

But please & please don't even think about CM Extreme PSUs!!sincere request!!

In gaming, i5 2400 is better than even AMD's 6 core processors. But in Photoshop and most of the multi-threaded productive applications 1090T is performing better than i5 2400.
Check AnandTech - Bench - CPU

@OP
if your priority for gaming >multi-threaded applications--->i5 2400
else--->X6 1090T

rest of all is fine
and if you plan to buy a new monitor in a year or so, then go get a better gfx card like HD 6850 or better

BMG ftw!!
PSU: CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W / Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W

Corrected. CoolerMaster extreme power PSUs are piece of crap. Avoid them.

I think you should wait until September, 19th as Bulldozer is gonna be launched on that day. If it performs well then the current price of sandybridge processors as well as the current Phenom II processors will come down. Even within 10K you can get hands on the Bulldozer too.
