Re: Please help ACPI

AFAIK,there is some online test to be sure that ur hardware is supported for Vista.

ATM,though very risky,a BIOS update can only fix this problem of urs.

if u have a legit copy of vista,y dont u try cc(customer care) hotline :-|

Why did you start a new thread to tell us that you have downloaded the BIOS?

bios updating is a bit dangerous of u dont know anything about it.

you need to
1. carefully check that u have the correct update for ur bios. double and triple check it
2. see you mobo manufacturer support site for procedure to update bios for ur mobo.
3. Although it takes only a few seconds to update a bios. be sure u have a ups. cause a power failure will corrupt ur bios.
4. Download and prep any procedures to recover bios(like floppy, default bios image etc) from the manufacturer site in case for any reason u corrupt ur bios.

If you have the intel original desktop board and have downloaded the InstallShield based setup.exe installation, go ahead, close all the unnecessary running programs in background using task manager and making sure of a constant power supply for 10 minutes at least. Power outage will cause your system to become unbootable and you'll have to use the recovery bios, which is a geeky thing, i tell you, and requires a floppy drive. I am telling you this coz most of the computers today dont come with a floppy drive.

After all set, just run the exe, sit back and relax. It will install the bios update and automatically reboot the system. No harm. I have done this 8 times on my 82865GBF board, when i bought it. At that time, intel use to release bios update every other night for my board :-D
