Hi I am upgrading to p4 2.4 Ghz from p3 800mhz
Please suggest me motherboard which has inbuilt sound card and maybe graphic card(with 32MB onboard shared) which is cheap also.
I found Mercury motherboard P1845GVM AGP V5.0A (478Pins)
& Gigabyte P4 Titan GA-8STXC

Regarding cabinets minimum priced one with 3 expansion or 2 expansion for cd rom drives.

Graphic card 128MB or 64MB cheap and has got good quality graphics as well.

Found Geforce MX 4000 & geforce 4 mx440

Please suggest me what to go for.
Thanks in advance

Hey go for 865GBF chipset or Original Motherboard mobo decent onboard graphics, sound......don't go for MX 4000 Graphic card...it sucks go for atleast FX 5200......Why don't u switch over to AMD..????

Go for a Intel 845 Motherboard. Get Ge-force 5200.
I think it costs around 2500-3000/-.

Intel 845 Mobo has a good onboard sound.

But i don think u can get VGA share in this.

hey

845 chipset is outdated now..go for atleast 865GBF chipset,if money permits, go for a 915 chipset. It may cost u around 5000. And if u r into playing games, try to get a 6200 atleast. that will be worth the money ..U may get it by aroound 3500.

why dont u go for AMD by the way? if u r not an intel FAN, i advise u to go for an AMD athlon XP with a winfast/msi mobo with Nforce 4 chipset and an nvidia 6200 g/card...u must have to invest in a decent pair of ram too as both these platforms uses DDR RAM, and ur old p3's are running on SDRAM..

well go for

Microstar MSI 6524G under ur budget..has onboard sound and graphics..also check the motherboard section of this month on digit dvd....

for choosing graphic card see january issue of digit and for my side select PNY series ..very cheap and a decent performer

now what u want
consider
january and july issue of digit..based on ur query

premrajeev was right u should go for a 865 or 915 chipset. Look for this month's DIGIT issue for more information on Intel or AMD based motherboards.

Thanks everyone.

I bought P4 2.4 Ghz

Intel 845GVchipset (ASRock motherboard)
It has 4 USB 2.0 ports , 1 10/100Ethernet adapter , 64MB Video ram Intel Extreme graphics onboard (does not share memory with system RAM) 5.1 channel surround sound audio out put onboard sound card, Norton Internet Security (licensed free with the mobo)
256MB DDR Ram 400Mhz

I have a 5400rpm 20GB hard disk.

should I go for 7200rpm 80GB seagate barracuda to further increase the speed of PC???

hey,

heck. You have chosen 845.Hmm..it's your machine,so the it's your decision that matters most. Well u should have gone for an 865 atleast ..may others describe why..as far as the cost factor is concerned, there is hardly any..and the tech perspective of 865 is much superior to 845..be it sound or graphic or system memory management or SATA support..

And , I have never heard of any mobo without a vga share..means, never heard a mobo with dedicated graphic memory..pls double check and let me know.

And, going for a speedy harddisk will certainly improve performance. In your case, at least by 10%..

hi
instead of using mb+grpahics card i suggest to go for 3.0 HT (939 pins) +915G mainboard (64 mb) works just awesome. no upgrades for next 2 yrs definitely.

hey if im not mistaken hes already purchased an upgrade so wats d fuzz now....chill

@ shikhar:
does not share memory with system RAM

dude lemme tell u that 845 dosnt have any inbuilt memory for ur onboard grafix card....it shows 64 mb on ur dxdiag or wherever....n shares 1mb or 8mb for display adapter....ur 64mb is also shared but only wen required....
ie. u dunt have in-built 64mb but that 64mb means it can share upto 64mb depending upon ur game requirement....i also had same mobo in mercury now changed to i845GV and a 128mb ATi Radeon card so no more sharing business here.....u'll be able 2 run latest games but at very bad cnfg...even a lower settings games like nfs ug, ut2004, hl2 etc wud ran slowly...so i recon u get an external grafix card....just hoping ur mobo has agp slot coz mercuy n gigabyte dosnt hv with 845...gud luk

cheers

dont worry buddy....though a bit outdated...845 mobos still hold the best value motherboards.Decent onboard gfx nd good sound...u will see a world of difference while upgrading from 810e/p3.
Yes I would hav also suggested AMDsempron 2800+MSI KM 4M V @ Rs.5000.It will outperform ur procy mobo combo easily that too at the price of ur processor
