Upgrade ur ram to 512 or 1gb
Get a 80/160 gig hdd
A XFX 6600 128 MB(if u have a AGP slot)

If u don't have a AGP slot then get a new mobo......

Can XFX 6600 will play all the games?
does my motherboard has AGP slot?

According to intel site u do have an AGP 4x slot. So no point in buying an AGP card, instead buy extra ram, maybe a 512MB stick (but remember that ur mobo support only 266/333 MHz DDR RAM). And u could also buy a higher capacity HDD but I would suggest that you save more money and then completely overhaul ur system.

To see details of ur mobo see here: *www.intel.com/design/motherbd/bv2/index.htm

ur config. is outdated...
u shud go for a complete upgrade as AGP 4x isn't going to give u the ultimate performance and the processor isn't up-to-the-mark...
post ur budget

nopes P4 1.7 is not sufficient at all to play the new heavy games.....
either u cud get an AMD 3000+(equivalent to P4 3.0 Ghz) or some good Intel board(im not familiar about intel much)

but for gaming,, AMD rocks

Get an AMD64 3000+ with ASUS A8N-VM CSM mobo. Also get urself atleast 512mb DDR 400 stick then add another in "dual channel mode" when u want to. The onboard video controller will be better than ur current one and in future u could save money and buy a gfx card.
The cpu+mobo+ram will come under ur budget of 15K. I would say that u save more and then buy a gfx card later.

don't worry, there are many like u sitting with a P4 1.7 Ghz and that list includes me :D

my vendor had offered me a combo of ASUS A8N SLI with the different AMD processors:AMD 3000+= Rs 14000
AMD 3200+ " " " " = Rs 16000

i guess the 3200 is fer rs 7500-8k
but its great, i think

and u can overclock it to great extent.......see john_the_ultimate's rig, he has overclocked his 3000+ to 2.7Ghz!!!!!

and by the way john, y is ur RAM 385 instead of 400Mhz?
