I have an Emachines t6520, I was told the motherboard went bad and needs to be replaced. Online the motherboards run anywhere from 150-250$, which doesn't seem too expensive, but it only supports up to 2 GB of memory. I was thinking about upgrading to Vista, and 2 GB is the bare minimum to run it. Can I install another motherboard that would allow me to install more ram, or does it have to be one similar to the on that come with my computer?

*MOD EDIT: Self promotion link removed

^^ the PC is from 2005-2006

@OP sir, 150-250 $ for this PC's motherboard ? you should not even invest 50 $ into this PC now .. it has run it's life . instead you can build complete brand new PC in 200 $ with 4gb ram excluding monitor ..

I checked the IP. Seems like it is from Bangladesh. Why would anybody from Bangladesh want to buy a mobo in $ instead of Taka?

I know but to be "politically correct"(aka assuming it is some US citizen working there on some temporary assignment) I chose only to focus on spam link.:)
