wanna upgrade old p4 system.............
i have a lcd monitor -samsung syncmaster b1930 18.5 inch with max res 1360 x 768
i have a dvd writer so no need for a new one.......
i would need a mobo+cpu+ram(ddr3)+power supply+HDD.
i use the system for some CAD apps like autocad, catia, pro Engineer. and also watch a lot of movies and some gaming like nfs, hitman and all(but no fps games) at low details is enough....
should i opt for a graphics card and if yes will it stay in ma budget.....
please suggest a good configuration that is future proof.....
the budget is limted to some 15k to 20Kmax

Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz @ 5.1k
Biostar TA785G A3 @ 3.7k
Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz C9 @ 2.9k
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB @ 2.3k
FSP Saga II 400 Watts @ 2.3k

total: 16.3k should get for 16k only.

now graphics card. as u play most games in low details. & the apps u mentioned won't need a Pro card so a gaming card will suffix. increase your budget to 21.5k & get Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 Artic Cooling @ 5.3k.

well i am not into gaming at all and sometimes play call of duty 4, hitman 2, nfs carbon without ani discreet graphics with my msi 790gx g65 at 1920*1080(full settings).... all these run like a hot knife out of butter.... but as you said you use cad (imaging and 3d rendering apps), a discreet gpu would surely boost your perforemance.... buy what sam has suggested....

AMD is the best for budget solutions. Athlon II X4 630 is a quad core CPU just for 5k.It outperforms all of the core2duos and some c2q's of intel. It has 512 KB L2 cache for each core. Its the best performing budget quad core.

With 785G chipset you can play your games with decent settings. But not new titles.I think you can play most games till 2009.It has the IGP HD 4200.

does this igp hd 4200 means something similar to the one in the hd 4200 graphics cards of ati. as both are owned by amd.
and when i searched for the biostar motherboard i got one with sideport memory and one without it...
does sideport memory increase the gpu performance significantly..

yah its same. & the graphics card u talking most probably is HD4350. not HD4200. HD4350 is 2 times more powerful than HD4200 IGP. however the HD4200 OC past 100%, without any special cooling, making it match HD4350 in most games.

sidport memory is an optional memory. though it speed games up, but not too much. so one may purchase a cheaper HD4200 mobo without sideport. OC the core to 900Mhz(default 500Mhz). add system memory & it'll be a good for casual gaming @ 1024X768. even Crysis will run flawlessly.

however Biostar TA785G3 HD is a cheap mobo with sideport in form of 128Mb DDR3 & good cooling for the HD4200 chip. OC should be fun
