Uncached Speed - ???
Am usimg WinXP Pro SP2 on an Intel P4 2.80 MHz HT Processor with 512 MB SDRAM and 120 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 HDD having the following specs :

Average Rotational Latency 4.16 ms
Disks 2
Recording Surfaces 3
Average Rotational Latency 4.16 ms
Rotational Speed 7200 RPM
Max. Internal Data Rate 683 Mbit/s
Average Seek 8.5 ms
Interface SATA
Buffer-to-Host Data Rate 150 MB/s
Buffer Size 8 MB
Spin-Up Time 10 sec

Today I visited PCWORLD.COM\PCPitstop.cOM. I got the following results :
Drive C has an uncached speed of 3 megabytes per second
For comparison, systems with the same CPU and clock speed as this one have a speed of 39.54 MB/s.

Can someone explain this and how I can increase the uncached speed ?

I look forward for for expert advice.

Regards
Nariman

This is most probably driver fault. Completely remove the IDE drivers, restart, then install the driver. If u are currently using your motherboard's cd for IDE driver, then this time use Windows's automatic driver install, and vice-versa. My windows drivers were stable (less bsod) than nvidia's ide driver. It may be different for your mobo.
You may also want to check if DMA is enabled or not.
