unable the write cds at 48x

hi all
i jus got a new sony dru 810a dvd writer,...
i'm unable to write cds at speeds greater than 40x...
although i think that this writer is capable of writing at 48x

pl correct me anyone if i'm wrong...

and please help.

also i must mention...
my rig is
amd 64 3000+ msi rs480m2 512 mb 80gb sata hitachi+80gb pata seagate.

The DRU 810A does write at 48x but Sony set the default read/write speed to 40x to minimize the drive noise.To read and write discs at 48x,u have to activate the Turbo Boost mode.

1) Insert a CD-R/CD-ROM disc into the drive

2) Press and hold the Eject button for five seconds.
The busy indicator blinks twice and the read/write speed switches to 48x. (The Turbo Boost function is active.)

When you open the disc tray, the Turbo Boost function will be deactivated.

Sometimes it does depends on the type of media used for writing .

Try using gud quality media for writing.

no the turbo mode is exclusive for sony cdroms/cdrws (and probably for liteons as they are the oem suppliers)

also, while copying from a cdrom/rw drive activate turbo mode by pressing the eject button for 5secs to fasten the copying operation! works very well!
