Ubuntu Help: How to install RealPlayer?

Help me install RealPlayer in Ubuntu. I am a novice to Linux and maintain a dual boot PC with XP and Ubuntu. I have copied the RealPlayer10GOLD.bin (on the Digit DVD) to my Ubuntu desktop, but couldn't run it.

As per Real's web instructions, I have tried the following:

chmod a+x <filename>
./<filename>

Nothing happened.

Help me!!!!

Yea i too had a problem installing the .bin installer. Before you give those instructions use 'su' command and enter password.

$su
 *** enter the root password ***

$chmod a+x <filename>
$./<filename>

I guess this will install realplayer. Or else download the rpm and convert it to .deb using alien. and install it

First U ppl configure apt properly.then apt-get install realplayer will do.if u want to do manually,make set permission for all as chmod a+x xxx.bin then run as ./xxxx.bin and move the extracted to a convenient location..

Thanks for the reply.

But, nothing happened, and I 'm still on square one. I think I will have to remove the whole Ubuntu thing, and maybe try some other distro..

Any ideas about uninstalling it?
