The Read "X" Symbol-You computer is Infected..icon In my XP'

While I am connected .....I got a guest which seem to be stick in my xp's system tray which show the tool tip "ue system is infected', how can I remove that..is that a virus ?any body can help..eme ..I haave Antivir in my system...

Make sure u start ur system in safe moce.

Download and run and post the log file in here so that ppl here can help you further.

Make sure your av database is upto date and do let us know which av u use.

prima facie, it appears that u have been infected with adware.

as suggested above run atleast two anti-spyware scans, preferably in safe mode. i suggest microsoft anti-spyware and adaware (or freeware version spywaredoctor 3.1). all will be available at www.download.com.

it would also be a nice idea to post ur 'hijackthis' logfile here. run this tool in the normal/regular mode.
