also rippers arent risponsible for quality !!
if u want a complete dvd 2 avi solution then ur lookin for converters and not RIPPERS
rippers only rip dvd VOB files to hdd !!! thats it !!!
so question of quality doesnt much arise there
ps: smart ripper production was stopped
and dvd decrypter latest version is spyware . but during installation IF u choose not to accept it , it'll work as an older version which is free of spyware

dvd shrink is good and free. But it only rip dvd to "vob"
handbrake is also good and free. It can convert dvd to ipod format(mp4).
If you want to rip dvd to other video formats such as 3GP, I am afriad you need to buy shareware. There are many such shareware : iSkysoft DVD Ripper(Mac/PC), cucusoft(pc)....
