My work largely involves with photoshop. I heard that to obtain exact colour reproduction CRT monitor is absolutely necessary. Recently I am planning to purchase a TFT monitor. Does the current day TFT monitors faithfully reproduce colour? Which brand is the best in this category?

depends on how accurate u want it..

also on the resolution you want.. CRTs offer higher resolutions and better clearity and are cheaper too....

Exact color reproduction requires a lot of effor from the user. as factory settings of a crt/tft are not accurate.
you will need to calibrate it and you need a very sharp eye for that.
Also color reproduciton is always relative.

The real color of the image may be varient of what gets displayed and also what gets printed or published.

also Accuracy of Color reproductoion of a perticular pixel dependes on the colors and intensity of surrounding pixels on CRTs but the same is not true for TFTs.

So as i said.. depends on how good a eye you have...
