i have 5 svchost.exe running ... my system goes onto 100% CPU Usage regulaly ...

was just readin about the causes etc on the forums and suddenly Windwos gave an error :

Your antivirus databasse has been corrupted ... Please update or install another program...

n wen i update it says your updates are complete ...

Kasersky Anti Virus Personal 5.0.149 installed on WIndows XP SP 2 (professonal)

First off, you're protected against the really malicious programs and viruses because of SP2. You say that your processor usage goes to 100% regularly. Which processor are using? Details please.
Also the next time it goes to 100%, open the Processes panel and click the CPU tab to organize it by CPU usage and find out which process is using the maximum CPU cycles and post it here.
Also, you dont seem to have spyware/malware according to your HJT log, but download the Stinger tool from here:

Run it and if it detects a virus, you will be able to clean it. It does not look like there is any infection, and actually speaking, svchost.exe is a critical file needed for your Windows OS to work properly and its not unusual for more than program to make use of svchost.exe, showing up as multiple processes.

It looks like your AV program is just plain corrupted. Uninstall it completely, reinstall it and update it.

Fix the red entries after booting in safe mode.How to Fix, see here, also run the CleanUp! utility after fixing.....

multiple svchost processes r normal.....

u better compeletely uninstall Kaspersky AntiVirus and AntiHacker Firewall and then check the CPU usage. Kaspersky AntiHacker Firewall is resource hungry.....
u better install Zone Alarm Free Firewall, which is the BEST firewall and NOD32 AntiVirus, which also detects the Spywares, Keyloggers,Toolbars..

@sawtkat ... will reboot in safemode and fix them for suer ... downloadin the cleanup utilit now ...

my Kaspersky Anti Virus after repeated attempts has finally updated itself n not showin any errors now ...

shud i still re-install the application. ???

also im downloadin the zone alarm firewall and gonna remove Kaspersky Anti HAcker firewall ...

Well, remove the Kaspersky AntiHacker firewall, and then try to update the KAV program again. If it gives you an error, please post the exact contents of the error here. Also, check the update signature file version and compare it to the latest version on the website. If they match, then yes, your antivirus is working as it should. If it doesn't, uninstall the application completely and then reinstall it.

and u didnt indicated ur problem at all, now u uninstalled Kaspersky AntiHacker ( and StyleXP too?) , so what's ur CPU usage now?
