suggest some 56k modems

hi.

well my fren just called me that his vintron modem isint working becoz ter arent XP drivers for it.i dont know the model name.but i told him tat vintron cos sucks bad..i guess 56modems cost not more than 500/600.correct me if i am wrong..Do suggest me some names..

I too would recommend an external serial port (not USB) 56 K Modem. I have the dlink 560S its good.

damn krishna some ppl just cant get out of the world tey r in...This is India mate,not USA or China,wer u will find Wi-Fi or Wimax or even broadband.Think abt it...aneways tx for the rates and info...i suggested dlink..just wanted some 2nd,3rd opinions..tx pradeep for tat model name..

D-Link are the best in modems.

Almost all modems have some Rockwell chipset on them. Even a new internal modem shouldn't give any problem in Linux/Unix. Only make sure that you don't buy those cheap SoftModem (Better known as WinModems coz they only run under windows). DLink should be good enough.
