Suggest mobo + proc + ram for 4k

Hey guys...

I need to set up a PC for my grandparents... their aging config just died ! Budget is from 3 to 4k, and the PC would be mainly used for browsing and chatting.

Suggest a motherboard + processor + ram combo... (strictly 4k max)

Sempron LE-1200 -- 1.5k
Asus M2N MX-SE or MSI K9N6SGM-V -- 2.1k
512MB DDR2/667 -- 0.5k

Total 4.1k. Prices are approximate. You may be able to get them for 4k.

This is not the cheapest possible combo, but it's a good VFM. E.g., you could go for a cheaper VIA chipset mobo, but they sometimes have stability issues. Or a Sempron 3000+.

Of course you could always buy a used set.

Could even try the mini itx D945GCLF with integrated atom proccy @3.3k + 0.5k for 512mb.

I came across the atom offering as well... but cudn't find any reviews on it. Can any1 shed more light on that offering?

Suggestion:
1. Celeron Dual Core E1200 1.6 GHz @ 1.6k
2. MSI Intel 945GC (IGP a boon) @ 2.1k
3. 1GB Transcend Value RAM @ 0.7k

If you want Sempron, then get :
1. MSI K9MM-V based on the VIA K8M800 chipset @ 1.9k

Intel and VIA integrated graphics are inferior to the Nvidia IGPs of the mobos I suggested, by a considerable margin.

wouldn't sempron offer superior performance and good VFM compared to the celeron offering? is dual core celeron a step ahead of sempron then?? confused....
