The best start-up cleaner is the authorised Msconfig Cleaner ::

and to clear start-up folder use the following tools ::

I also use TuneUp utilities 2006. It gives option to disable the startup entry as well as delete it with a lil info ab out the entry.

If you know Windows System very well try the 'msconfig' method. There are lots of
software available like System Mechanic, XP Tuning Suite, Tweak XP Pro. I suggest
Tweak XP Pro. Get it from here:

There is also a Windws XP 15 mins tune-up guide:
Check it out:

Msconfig is great with one exception: In 2k/XP, it pops up a confirmation message on restart... The problem is that if you happen to login next time with non-admin user, the popup will continue everytime...

In AutoPatcher, there is a tool installed called Startup control panel... This will be available in the Control Panel. Try it out... It is very easy to use...

Also, many people advise against modifying services settings through msconfig... Dont remember why exactly... For that, use services.msc command at run...
