1. Almost all brands will give you a config similar to the ones you have listed
2. I am taking a guess based on US prices: Rs. 75,000 approx.
3, 4 & 5. Well, Centrino processors yield good battery life but expecting more than 4 hours seems unrealistic. And when you watch movies and write CDs/DVDs, the battery life will take a beating. There is no way to increase life other than buying spare batteries. Also, when you have a power outlet handy, use AC power instead of your battery.

I am moving this thread to QnA as I think QnA is a better place for your queries :p

hey well.I'm an IBM user nd very font of it. if u live in bomby u can send a mail to :efcom@hathway.com for a quote for an IBM one. HP is officially not available in INDIA (news source : HP Outlet)Only compaq is available as Compaq is part of HP now. I have seen compaq laptop resembling your specs and the cost would be near or around 1 lakh.IBM may cost u more ,but u can be rest assured of the build quality. If u r a rough user, go for an IBM rather than those fancy looks.I have used Compaq for 1 yr earlier in 2002 but it was a very fragile machine.Even the body can get scratched too easily. But with my IBM i am very happy, I have dropped it thrice, still workin perfectly without any damages..and yes..check out last monts chip laptop shootout and then decide which one suits ur needs.

Right off the assembly line
Do u really need a performance driven notebook like that for surfing, programming, movies? Get an affordable compaq for 50,000. Something like a Presario M2013. No dvd writer ofcourse. Get an extra battery.
