Some Q on Win Processes

Guys i got some doubts on win XP processes

1) I notice that svchost.exe runs a lot ....why & user name is also different
is it possible to end them as such......

2) one really irritating procc is wscntfy ...the security prog.....Is there some way to shut that thing off...one useless idiot that peeps every now & then


Clear my doubts....

1. svchost is windows service running executables. It is used by many services that are actually coded into dlls to be run by windows. You may want a more detailed look at the parameters to identify the service being hosted by svchost. There are many free software that can do this, but I am unable to recall one off the top of my head...

2. "wscntfy.exe" is the Windows Security Center, introduced in Service Pack 2. It displays a tray icon indicating the status of updates, virus protection, and firewall. wscntfy.exe can be disabled by going in to "Services" and disabling Security Center (not recommented unless you are an expert and doing this with a clear mind). Note: The wscntfy.exe file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. In other cases, wscntfy.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm
