Is software quality necessary or not, do you think if not why

it doesn't matter who creates the software.. its the consumer who buys them and he won't give any thought to whether a single person creates the software or a team.. he will look at the quality and how efficient and useful the software is.
Note for new freelance software developers:
Please don't ignore software quality management... it may take some extra time and effort to make better looking and more efficient programmes but in the end it counts a lot.

is this right as with the help of software engineering we are reducing the time of development, this is a myth in the coders that by applying the software engineering the time increases

What are you talking about ???!!! Who says that applying software engineering techniques increases the lifecyle of a project. Thats the plain absurdity. The life cycle of a project decreases significantly if we use the tried and tested software development methodologies and processes such as RUP. No coder in his right mind thinks that the SE methodologies increase time...sheesh!

S/W Engineering
definately S/W engineering Techniques help in the reduction of the time duration of the S/W development along with increase in quality. but they are slow in progress, means that quality of the S/W increases with the duration of time that company spent on similar type of products. or any other products that follow the complete S/W engineering process.[/code]

Quality means the processes are already in place. Thats what QA is all about If the processes are in place then it has no direct impact on the speed of a SDLC. The where does the relation come into the picture ? I know becos I work in a CMM - 5/ PCMM - 5 company. Processes are in place already and hence the SDLC is faster and not slower. If the processes are not in place then you wouldnt have the certfications and hence it would be a learning curve which would be slow for the company growth. Also one makes the assumption that the process is followed as mentioned by all employees. Without this being true well no SDLC will work. [/quote]
