I am running Windows Xp Professional with the latest updates (checked today). I am also having having Avast Free Antivirus, Lavasoft Adware Free, and Spyware Doctor. All updated.
I have 2 x 80 GB Segate SATA HDDs with atleast 100 GB free in both drives.
And AMD Athlon 64 bit 3500+, 1 GB Transcend DDR 400, Gigabyte K8N Motherboard.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been experiencing horrible boot times. It takes 3 minutes to boot up the system and the system gets stuck on the intial welcome page for 1 minute before the welcoming sound appears.

I have defragmented all the drives and scanned for virus ,spyware, etc. The startup list and services lis contain the bare essentials.

The slow boot times is also when I boot in the Safe Mode.

Please help.
